Quick take

Consider it if you want the larger of the two sizes Apple sells the Pro in. The screen goes from 6.3 inches to 6.9, and Apple’s quoted video playback from 36 hours to 45. The trade is $100 more, 38 g more to carry, and a body 13.4 mm taller and 6.1 mm wider. The chip, the three 48MP lenses, iOS 27, the storage tiers, the charging claim and the IP68 rating are the same on both.

Good fit if

  • You want a display at 2868 x 1320
  • You want up to 45 hours of video playback on the maker’s own figure
  • You want the larger Pro-size body: 163.4 mm tall at 249 g
  • You want up to 2TB of storage in a phone
  • You charge in short bursts — 50% in around 15 minutes with a 60W-capable adapter

Consider another option if

  • You want the same phone in a smaller, lighter body — the iPhone 18 Pro is 150.0 mm tall at 211 g
  • $1,299 before any storage upgrade is more than you want to spend
  • You want Android rather than iOS
  • You want more than one telephoto lens; this has one, at 100 mm
  • You want a published minimum number of years of updates, which Apple does not state
